Reaction characteristics of KH540 silane coupling agent

The KH540 silane coupling agent hydrolysis reaction occurs automatically in the presence of water without the addition of an acid as an additive. The pH of the aqueous solution is about 10-11, and the product will react with the ketone and ester solvents. Therefore, it is not recommended to dilute the product with the above solvent. The silane itself or the silylated substrate reacts with carbon dioxide in the air to form the corresponding carbonate or carbamate.

Inorganic materials suitable for KH540 silane coupling agent include glass materials such as glass, glass fiber, glass wool, mica and quartz, and metals such as aluminum hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide, kaolin, talc, steel, zinc, aluminum and the like. However, it has no effect on fillers having no hydroxyl group on the surface such as calcium carbonate, graphite, carbon black or barium sulfate.
