Silane KH-580 γ-mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane

TDS MSDS

Silane KH-5803-Mercaptopropyltriethoxysilane is a mercapto-silane.
Thiol of the KH-580 can react with many kinds of resins. While, the Si-OH formed after the hydrolysis of the trimethoxy can have condensation reaction with the hydroxyl on the surface of the inorganic materials. Thus erected between inorganic materials and resins ,”molecular bridge”, to play a role in coupling.
KH-580 is a colorless to pale yellow transparent, low viscosity liquid, Its smell is somewhat similar to rotten eggs It can be dissolved in aliphatic solvents and aromatic solvents such as alcohol, ether, ketone It is also soluble in water, however, hydrolysis occurs. Hydrolysates are not stable, and the storage period is short.
KH-580 applies to elastomers of sulfur-cured and metal oxide curing system; It can combine inorganic fillers (such as silica, clay, mica and talc, etc.) with the rubber chemical bond. Thereby enhancing the capacity of the inorganic filler of enhancing the mechanical properties of elastomers.
KH-580 can be used as adhesion promoter, surface modifiers, and cross-linking agent and dispersant. It is to upgrade the combination of power and compatibility between inorganic mineral powder material, fiber and polymers (resin) . And to improve the adhesion, water resistance between resin coating and the inorganic substrate.
KH-580 applies to the resin, including propionic acid allyl resins, polyurethane, natural rubber, SBR, nitrile rubber, butyl rubber, neoprene rubber, polysulfide rubber, and can block  the isocyanate so as to modify the Polyurethane it synthesized.
